THERAPY SERVICES

Psychotherapy, or Counseling, is a general term for addressing mental health concerns. During psychotherapy, individuals learn about their condition, moods, feelings, thoughts and behaviors. Psychotherapy helps individuals learn how to take control of their lives and respond to challenging situations with healthy coping skills. We are also accepting new patients who have active Medical Assistance. A diagnosable psychological concern is criteria for admission.

REFERRAL PROCESS FOR THERAPY

Individuals seeking therapeutic services can simply schedule an appointment by phone or by requesting one through the “Appointment Request” tab on this site.

PSYCHIATRIC REHABILITATION PROGRAM (PRP)

Psychiatric Rehabilitation, also known as Psychosocial Rehabilitation, and usually simplified to Psych Rehab, is the process of restoration of community functioning and well-being of an individual who has a psychiatric disability (been diagnosed with a mental disorder).

Rehabilitation work undertaken by psychiatrists, psychotherapist, social workers and other mental health professionals seeks to effect changes in a person’s environment and in a person’s ability to deal with his/her environment, so as to facilitate improvement in symptoms or personal distress.

These services often “combine pharmacologic treatment, independent living and social skills training, psychological support to clients and their families, housing, vocational rehabilitation, social support and network enhancement, and access to leisure activities.

ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR PRP SERVICES

  • The individual must have an Axis I diagnosis of severe or chronic mental illness that can be verified through the Therapist and/or Psychiatrist.

REFERRAL PROCESS FOR PRP SERVICES

The referral must be completed by the treating Psychiatrist or Licensed Therapist (LCPC or LCSW-C).
Once the referral is received, UHS staff will check the medical assistance number to ensure that it is active and then schedule a face to face interview with the potential participant.

After the interview, the staff will submit all information to the State to receive authorization to provide services.

Once the authorization is obtained, UHS staff will contact the referral source and client to inform them of the program acceptance and set up a start date and transportation.
